“Da mi basia mille," he whispered, smiling. Give me a thousand kisses.”
This Latin inscription is originally from a love poem by the poet Cantullus, who lived in Ancient Rome at the same time as the Emperor Caesar, and translates as 'Give me a thousand kisses'.
It was, of course, famously used by Jamie to Claire.....
"He took both my hands in his then, and kissed them - the left, which still bore the gold ring of my marriage to Frank, and then the right, with his own silver ring.
"Da mi basia mille," he whispered, smiling. Give me a thousand kisses."
The words 'Da Mi Basia Mille' are carefully embossed around the shank of the ring, and are separated by a small Jacobean Thistle.

Published in 1991, it focuses on 20th century nurse Claire Randall, who time travels to 18th century Scotland and finds adventure and romance with the dashing Jamie Fraser.
The books have sold in their millions, and spawned legions of fans. ‘Outlander’ is now a major US television series which was filmed in locations throughout Scotland, but particularly at Doune Castle, near Stirling.
